Photos first, price second

Most homeowners have never stood on their own roof. So before we talk about shingles or numbers, we get up there and photograph every slope, the flashing, the vents and anything that looks wrong. Then we sit down with you at the kitchen table and go through each photo.

That way the conversation is about your roof, not an average roof in your zip code.

Options, not one number

Some homeowners want the best roof they can get. Others want a solid roof at a fair price. Most want to see both before they decide. We lay out your options side by side so you can compare what each one includes and what it costs.

If monthly payments make more sense than one big check, we put financing next to each option.

What moves the price

Every roof is different. These are the things that change the number:

  1. Roof size. Roofs are priced by the square, which is 100 square feet.
  2. Pitch and complexity. Steep slopes, valleys, dormers and chimneys take more time and more care.
  3. Layers to tear off. A second layer of old shingles costs more to remove and haul away.
  4. Decking condition. Damaged wood under the shingles only shows up once the old roof is off.
  5. The roof system you choose. Shingle line, underlayment and ventilation all change the price.

Built for Northeast Ohio weather

Hail in summer, wind in every season and freeze-thaw all winter. A roof here has to handle all three. At the sit-down we'll talk about what your roof faces and which options fit how long you plan to stay in the home.

Repair or replace?

Six signs your roof is done.

We'd rather help you get more years out of the roof you have. These are the signs that tell a roofer it's time.

  1. Age

    Depends

Most asphalt shingle roofs last about 15 to 30 years, depending on the shingle; metal can go 40 years or more. Age isn't the whole story: sun, weather and installation quality all move the number.

Check how many summers are left, then have a roofer look.

  2. Recurring leaks

    Usually replace

One leak can be a repair. Constant leaks and water damage in your attic or ceilings mean the roof can no longer keep water out.

Chasing leaks one at a time gets expensive.

  3. Granule loss

    Usually replace

Granules are the shingle's armor. Patchy, worn-looking shingles and grit in your gutters and downspouts mean the roof is near the end of its life.

It won't get better, and it ages the deck underneath.

  4. Cracked or missing shingles

    Repair or replace

A few damaged shingles is normal upkeep. Many cracked, buckled or missing shingles points to replacement.

Count matters. A good inspection shows you the count, with photos.

  5. Energy loss

    Get it inspected

Drafts or temperature swings in the attic or upper floors can trace back to the roof system, and one-off repairs can't always fix them.

Could be ventilation, insulation or the roof itself.

  6. Sagging

    Urgent

Sagging means a problem with the structure under the shingles. It almost always requires a full replacement, and it is the most urgent sign on this list.

Call or text (330) 800-7947 now. Don't wait for the next storm.

Have a roofer check it, free

Replacing vs. overlaying: a full replacement lets the roofer check the deck and avoids the extra weight of a second layer.

Turn a 3D roof, peel back the layers, look into the attic and try GAF shingle colors. Then you know what every line in a roofing proposal means.

Replacement questions

How much does a new roof cost in Akron?

It depends on size, pitch, layers to tear off and damage nobody can see from the ground. That's why we don't quote over the phone. A free inspection gets you exact options in about an hour.

Do you tear off the old roof or go over it?

We recommend a full tear-off. An overlay hides the deck, adds weight and keeps anyone from seeing what's underneath. We'll show you the photos and explain what we found.

Can I finance a new roof?

Yes. Our standard rate is 9.99% APR, subject to credit approval by the lender. The lender sets your final rate and terms in writing.

Is my roof storm damaged or just old?

That's what the inspection is for. We'll tell you straight if it looks like storm damage or normal wear, with photos, so you know whether a claim is worth filing.

What warranty comes with the roof?

Rocket backs its installation with a workmanship warranty of up to 50 years, and Rocket is a GAF Certified Contractor installing GAF shingles, which carry GAF's own manufacturer warranty. The exact terms for your roof are written into your contract.
