Where leaks really start
Water rarely comes in where you see the stain. It travels along the deck and rafters before it shows up on your ceiling. That's why we look at the whole roof and the attic, not just the spot above the stain.
The usual suspects:
- Flashing around chimneys, walls and skylights that has pulled loose or rusted through.
- Pipe boots whose rubber has cracked from sun and cold.
- Missing or creased shingles after a wind storm.
- Valleys where two slopes meet and water runs heaviest.
- Ice dams that push meltwater back under the shingles in winter.

We don't push a new roof on a roof that needs a repair. We photograph the problem and the rest of the roof, then show you both at the sit-down. If a repair will hold, we'll recommend it. If the photos tell a different story, you'll see it for yourself.
Heavy downpours and Akron roofs
Northeast Ohio gets heavy summer downpours and long freeze-thaw winters. Small openings that stay dry in light rain can leak in a hard storm, then widen when water freezes inside them. Fixing them early is almost always cheaper than fixing them in spring.

Can you just fix the leak instead of replacing the roof?
Often, yes. If the rest of the roof is in good shape, a repair is the right call and we'll say so. If the photos show the roof is near the end of its life, we'll show you why.
How much does a roof repair cost?
It depends on what's causing the problem and how hard it is to reach. We'll give you the number after we've seen it, not before.
Could my leak be from storm damage?
It could. If the photos show hail or wind damage, we'll tell you, and explain how the insurance side works so you can decide whether to file.
