What you are looking at
Steep roofs show their workmanship from the air. On this home the planes rise sharply toward the center, and an angled section at one corner forces the shingles to turn through several short hips.
Estate Gray is a deep, slightly cool gray. In full sun it shows the layered look that architectural shingles are chosen for, and in shade it settles into a clean charcoal. Against the tan siding and the green of the lot it stays quiet and lets the house lead.
The shingle courses stay straight where the roof changes direction, and the ridge lines read cleanly from the lawn side and the patio side alike.
