What you are looking at
A ranch home puts a lot of roof in view from the street, so the finish matters. This one is a wide, low roof with a chimney near the ridge and a long valley where the two wings meet.
The aerial photo shows the whole roof as one clean surface. The valley is straight and the shingles on both sides are cut evenly to meet it. The roof-level photo was taken in the afternoon sun and shows the texture of the shingle itself, with the chimney in the distance.
Estate Gray is a dark, neutral gray that stays calm next to the brick chimney and the light siding. It also hides the leaf litter and dust of an Ohio fall better than a lighter shingle would.
