What you are looking at
This house has more roof than most. The main body steps down into lower sections, a front gable and several hips, and every one of those meets another plane at a valley or a ridge. Those joints are where a roof is easiest to get wrong, so they are where we look first in the finished photos.
From above, the Brownwood shingles read as one even field of warm brown. The courses run straight across each plane, the ridge caps follow the lines of the hips, and nothing sits crooked next to the chimney or the skylight.
The color suits the light exterior and the mature trees around the lot. A warm brown like this tends to look best on homes with earth tones, and it avoids the stark contrast a black roof would have against a light wall.
